About the Lucas Theatre for the Arts

SCAD has sustained and championed the Lucas Theatre for the Arts as an iconic Savannah landmark and cultural asset. Beautifully restored, the 86,000-sq. ft., century-old theater has offered year-round programming since its 2000 reopening, including highly anticipated festivals and series like the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, the Savannah Philharmonic, and the Savannah Music Festival. The 1,237-seat theater’s interior reflects an array of historic architectural flourishes — notably Greek Revival, Adam style, and Art Deco — and is complemented by presentation technology old and new: its original, meticulously restored Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ, 4K digital projection, and Dolby Digital surround sound.
